Description
EPCAMR Iron Oxide Pigment comes in 3 colors: Yellowboy Orange, Anthracite Red and *Silverbrook Purple.
We do not just collect the mine drainage sludge from any mine discharge. The raw materials we collect have been tested to be sure other harmful contaminants are not present, not only for consistency of the product but more importantly, for the safety of the user. We are a small staff and are limited in how much we can refine at a one time. Please keep that in mind when ordering large quantities.
There are so many uses for this orange “green product”! We tie dye t-shirts, add it to paint, pottery glazes, film development, make chalk, add it to concrete… Some higher end uses are in cosmetics, vitamin supplements, plant fertilizer, electronics manufacturing, chemotherapy, thermite, smelted pressed metals… and many more. Think of the possibilities, we could pay for treatment of mine discharges by selling the iron oxide? No, really? Really! As the old adage goes, make Lemonade out of Lemons.
From Wikipedia: Ochre (pron.: /ˈoʊkər/ oh-kər; from Greek: ὠχρός, ōkhrós, pale, also spelled ocher) is the term for both a golden-yellow or light yellow brown color and for a form of earth pigment which produces the color. The pigment can also be used to create a reddish tint known as “red ochre”. The more rarely used terms “purple ochre” and “brown ochre” also exist for variant hues. Because of these other hues, the color ochre is sometimes referred to as “yellow ochre” or “gold ochre”.
Ochres are among the earliest pigments used by mankind, derived from naturally tinted clay containing mineral oxides. Chemically, it is hydrated iron (III) oxide, mineralogically known as limonite. Ochres are non-toxic, and can be used to make an oil paint that dries quickly and covers surfaces thoroughly. To manufacture ground ochre, ochre clay is first mined from the ground. It is then washed in order to separate sand from ochre, which can be done by hand. The remaining ochre is then dried in the sun and sometimes burned to enhance the natural color.
