Description
This chalk was created using iron oxide collected from abandoned mine drainage (AMD) discharges. When air and water combine with pyrite minerals in the mines, they make the iron in the pyrite corrode or rust. The rust pollutes streams and turns them bright orange, yellow, or red. EPCAMR takes iron oxide out of the streams so it cannot hurt organisms or plants, and uses it for art projects like t-shirt tie-dying, ceramic glaze, and this chalk!
