The program was very successful during its 4-year term.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong>Mission:<\/strong><\/p>\n<address>To restore watersheds impacted by abandoned mine drainage (AMD) and abandoned mine\u00a0lands (AML) through the development of\u00a0sustainable community-led watershed organizations, coalitions, partnerships,\u00a0and related education and implementation projects\u00a0<\/address>\n<p>RWSI is a cooperative effort of the PA DEP Bureau of Mining &amp; Reclamation, Bureau of Watershed\u00a0Management Section 319 PG, and EPCAMR.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the program is to help form\u00a0new groups, assist recently formed and the more experienced organizations in efforts to RECLAIM PA\u00a0and restore\u00a0watersheds impacted by AMD and AML.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong>Types of watershed improvement projects\u00a0funded:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water\u00a0Quality Improvement Projects<\/li>\n<li>Land Reclamation Projects<\/li>\n<li>Water\u00a0Monitoring or Sampling<\/li>\n<li>Model Construction<\/li>\n<li>Organizational\u00a0Support (stamps, envelopes, letterhead, legal\u00a0fees, public meeting facility rental, part-time personnel, equipment purchases, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Education\u00a0&amp; Public Outreach (newsletter, brochures, videos, tabletop display, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Project\u00a0Development &amp; Implementation of AMD Abatement\u00a0Measures (passive treatment systems)<\/li>\n<li>Student\u00a0&amp; Teacher Training Workshops<\/li>\n<li>Community Environmental Action Projects<\/li>\n<li>Watershed\u00a0Field Tours on AMD and AML<\/li>\n<li>Watershed Conferences, Community Meetings, Watershed Congress<\/li>\n<li>Industrial\u00a0Site Assessments on small AML acreage for potential re-use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong>Eligible Organizations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Watershed\u00a0organizations, coalitions, conservation groups, municipal\u00a0government, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Organizations do not need to be a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, however, they must identify as a public or private organization that can administer the \u00a0 \u00a0finances of the grant.
